The Institut de Systématique, Évolution, Biodiversité
The Institut de Systématique, Evolution, Biodiversité is a joint research center (UMR 7205) of CNRS, Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle, Sorbonne Université, Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes and Université des Antilles. Objectives of UMR 7205 are to respond to questions concerning the origins of biodiversity, modes of species diversification, and the establishment of communities in relation to the evolution of taxa though time and space. The research center is a major hub of European systematics, making significant contributions to the fields of taxonomy and evolutionary biology. We take integrative approaches to phylogenetic systematics that have fostered the development of taxonomic, molecular, genetic, acoustic, cytogenetic, morphological and morphometric tools.
The Institut de Systématique, Evolution, Biodiversité (ISYEB) was founded on January 1st 2014, incorporating the former OSEB research center. Research groups of the ISYEB are mainly located in the Jardin des Plantes in the buildings of Rue Buffon and Rue Cuvier (Entomology, Mammals and Birds, Malacology, Botany, Amphibians and Reptiles, Geology). Furthermore, several research groups of Sorbonne Université and Université des Antilles will join the ISYEB by January 2019.
