 Research interests

- My research activities are directed toward documenting and understanding the outstanding diversity of terrestrial invertebrates on Earth. Although not exclusive, my main focus is Lepidoptera (moths and butterflies), with a special interest for their systematics and their evolutionary history and in particular for members of two emblematic families : Saturniidae (Wild Silkmoths) and Sphingidae (Hawkmoths).

- I am one of the coordinators of the DNA barcoding campaign for Lepidoptera and I lead two global campaigns for theSaturniidae and Sphingidae whose DNA barcode libraries are now nearly comprehensive for the world fauna (ca. 5000 species and subspecies). Through multiple national and international collaborations my DNA barcoding activities also extend to other taxa (e.g. Coleoptera, Oligochaeta) and to invertebrate communities for addressing ecological questions in temperate and tropical regions.
